Google and MySpace renew advertising deal

Google and MySpace have renewed and expanded their advertising and search contract.Yesterday the two companies announced a “multi-year” agreement. Google will continue to power MySpace search and search advertising. In addition, Google will also provide display advertising services to MySpace for the first time.

Although Google has powered MySpace search advertising for the last four years, the new announcement sees their partnership deepen.

Advertisers will be able to purchase display ads that will be seen on MySpace through Google, while MySpace will continue to sell some ads.

Henrique de Castro, Google’s Vice President of Global Media and Platforms said, “We’re excited to deepen our partnership with one of the largest social Web properties in the world, MySpace.

“We’re pleased that our technology will benefit MySpace’s users on its newly redesigned site, and that MySpace has chosen our display advertising solution to increase its returns.”
